An urgent need for awareness
The situation in Greece is alarming and deserves urgent attention.
Greeks are faced with a series of challenges that endanger their future, environment and way of life. At the heart of this crisis is a system that seems to favour external interests at the expense of the Greek people.
Destruction of flora and fauna, a threatened legacy: The rise of renewable energy sources, especially wind turbines and photovoltaic technologies, has been presented as a solution to environmental problems. However, this energy transition has a hidden cost.
The destruction of agricultural land and natural habitats to install this infrastructure has devastating consequences for biodiversity. Agriculture and livestock, the pillars of the Hellenic economy, are under serious threat, leading to the loss of vital resources for its citizens.
Climate change has worsened due to questionable energy choices: Climate change in Greece has worsened due to the massive installation of wind turbines and solar panels. These technologies, far from solving the problem, have contributed to environmental destabilisation.
Power plants that rely on intensive mineral extraction for their operation do not even guarantee adequate energy coverage.
Furthermore, the electricity generated by the wind turbines cannot be stored, raising questions about the sustainability of these solutions.
A costly dependency on energy: Greeks find themselves in a paradoxical situation due to governmental decisions, despite the production of renewable energy sources on their land, they pay the most expensive electricity prices in Europe, often imported from other countries. This reality raises concerns about Greece’s energy dominance and the country’s ability to meet its own needs.
The destruction of the primary sector and the food crisis: The destruction of the primary sector leads to a food crisis that threatens the security of citizens. Growing reliance on unsustainable energy systems and the abandonment of traditional agricultural practices are jeopardising Greece’s ability to feed its population.
The cost of this situation is alarming: The death of traditional agriculture also means the death of a natural way of life.
A call for unity and action: In the face of this dire situation, it is imperative that the Hellenic citizens unite to regain control of their future. It is time to reverse the downward spiral that is harming the nation and its people. The union and collective commitment of all citizens is necessary to formulate policies that protect the environment, support local agriculture and guarantee affordable and sustainable energy.
In conclusion, Greece is at a critical crossroads. It is important that every citizen is aware of the issues and acts to safeguard the future of their country.
The political party mechanisms of the country have proven that they are unable to raise their stature in the eyes of the people in protecting our environment and consequently, all of us who are one with it.
The deterrent power to this total selling off of Greece which has become prey to the interests of multinational companies who are indifferent to a better future of an entire populace, is the Political Body of the Nation, Ellinon Syneleysis (The Hellenic Assembly), i.e., the body of the citizens themselves. A complete sustainable development program has been submitted to the Supreme Court for all of Greece which includes the energy sector, and is ready to implement truly green technologies that do not cause any harm to the environment and humans, a fact that can no longer be ignored by the citizens.
Our inaction has brought us to this point.
Together, we can make the essential change for a better future.
